Those were the four elements of El Simpo, a music and arts ensemble headlined by SKEPTIC (@skepticmusica) and I from 2010 to 2013, a sort of think tank for creative wanderings between both. The group was home to many recurring residents, such as Unochosiete, The Color Brown, DJ Orti & Tracey Hamlette. While SKEPTIC headed sound, recording and live performances, I managed photography, design and marketing; we shared songwriting, singing and film-making credits.
El Simpo produced "Menos Teatro", a 16-track mixtape released as a singles series, producing for it two music videos ("Tengo Animo", "Un Dia de Sol"), a musical short ("Lokito TV"), and a collection of video teasers for live shows. Every track is accompanied by an original artwork.
We had the pleasure and privilege of performing on many stages across Puerto Rico, like Teatro Fransisco Arriví, La Respuesta, Universidad de Puerto Rico; and abroad for the Villanova University International Poetry Festival. Our live performances, while at first consisting of acoustic sets with spoken word and comedy, transitioned into a full DJ and MC show,
He's dancing on stage, sweating like a melting Snicker's and wants you to pour water in his mouth, that's why he writes like he's so thirsty, Unochosiete is a mouthful. His first album was titled "Sweet Coming".
He and I go back like a pair of Lay-Z-boys, since 2007 recording and performing together. Author of two solo albums, he's confided in me his entire visual campaign, culminating in "La Flor o La Polvora" (2013), a short film based on his latest album by the same name.

"Flight Cult Collective"
Creative collective from San Juan, representing art in the form of muralism, fine art, photography, design and more. I serve as creative and legal counsel on the squad; I document the action from time to time.
Below a sample of "The River Flow", solo session with Ask (@triptacolor) along the River Pierdras banks, and "La Santa Turca", a collective work by Ask, Saki ( @sakirte) and Hernan Ayala (@onu_aton) for "Los Muros Hablan" international muralism roundup.
"Producer, Vocalist, DJ, JD"
As prolific as the devil is sinister, SKEPTIC (@skepticmusica) is a man possessed by his music. His tracks are experiments in arc and falling action, incorporating a "layered sampling" technique infused with tribal tropic flashes.
Author of five instrumental albums, and resident producer for El Simpo, he and I have frequented on plenty projects. He has been kind enough to let me photograph and design his visuals for albums "Qué Mucho Ha Llovido" (2009), "Habla Poco" (2010), and his upcoming "SKEPTIC" (2013).
Blissful and in the name of sex and soul, the mindful Unochosiete and the restless SKEPTIC came together for this handsome EP. Recorded in seven consecutive meetings, the former blasts an MC performance of carnal damage, while the latter sows a soft-heavy thread of Hip-Hop laced with soundtrack garnishes.
"iPhone & Edits"
Leisure edits and design assignments. The first six pieces are a sample of Afterlight excerices titled #lascuritas and #wetplanet - both sets available on Instagram - followed by the cover art for Estereo Nosotros' single "Paz", and promotional art for Miami's Casual Creatures. The last two pieces aren't yet titled.
A selection of my favorite shots from over the years. A blend of portrait photography and street style.
